The Tuesday Huddle: Real conversations about Scripture, faith, and everyday life.

Where Sunday's Message Meets Everyday Life

The Tuesday Huddle is a midweek conversation with Walnut Hill Church's Rev. Shawn Barkley and Administrator Jessica Waldmann (and sometimes a special guest!) where they revisit Sunday’s sermon and Scripture. There are plenty of laughs and entertaining stories along the way as they look for everyday examples and share practical, approachable ways to live out the message in real life. It’s a relaxed, engaging discussion that listeners can enjoy on the go while at work, in the car, or out for a walk. Please join the conversation!

What happens when we don't listen to God? It may not involve thunderbolts and lightning, but you still might end up in the belly of a fish thinking, "Whale, that escalated quickly!" (Sorry—we couldn't resist. 🐋😄)
That's exactly what happens to the minor prophet Jonah after he tries to run in the opposite direction of God's call to go to Nineveh. What follows is a drama on the high seas, a whale of a tale, and some important lessons about what happens when we run from God. And that's just Chapter 1!
🎧 Take a listen to our first Tuesday Huddle in the Book of Jonah and consider where God may be calling YOU to trust Him more deeply. 🙏

Violent wind. Divided tongues. Possible xenoglossy. Sound like someone broke into the “new wine” a little too early? Some witnesses at the time thought so, too. But no — this was the HOLY SPIRIT being poured out upon Christ’s disciples and the group of more than 100 believers gathered in Jerusalem, waiting just as Jesus had instructed them. This is the story of Pentecost.
Join us as we explore this remarkable moment in the life of the Church and what it still means for us today: how God meets people where they are, what faithful witness looks like across cultures and experiences, and whether we approach Scripture with the posture of cynics or believers.

Plus, Rev. Shawn shares something on this topic that he admits he would never say in a Sunday sermon! 🤫👇

"Are we doing this right?” 😬
In The Gospel of Matthew 6, Jesus tells us not to “keep on babbling” in prayer, reminding us that God already knows what we need. So what does matter when we pray?
Take a listen to this week’s Tuesday Huddle to hear what two ministers--the Rev. Donna Barr and Rev. Shawn Barkley--say is the MOST important thing to do when we come to God, and how gratitude can transform our prayers and our lives.

Ever wonder what the crowd was thinking or hoping when they welcomed Jesus into Jerusalem at the beginning of Holy Week? Were they in awe of a leader they believed would change their political reality? Were they longing for someone to fulfill their ambitions for wealth, happiness, or power?
Join us this week as we take a Palm Sunday look at ambition and the kind of life God and His Son call us to cultivate in the Tuesday Huddle.

This week on the Tuesday Huddle, we explore Jesus’ powerful statement in John 14: “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” It sounds simple—until we truly wrestle with what it means.
Our conversation will take us from the present day all the way back to 325 AD and the Council of Nicaea, weaving in the story of a mysterious sunken basilica and raising deeper questions along the way: Are we climbing the right ladder? And if not, are we setting ourselves up for disappointment—or even despair?
Join us as we connect the dots and dig into a passage that challenges how we think about truth, direction, and what it means to follow Christ.

WHAT'S FEEDING YOUR SOUL?
We may be running a little behind this week… but we still couldn’t skip the Tuesday Huddle 🙌
This time, we’re looking at Jesus’ “I am the bread of life” statement and *BONUS POINTS* it’s our shortest audiogram yet. Nevertheless, we still find time to dive into Scripture, ask the real questions like why are people questioning whether Jesus is legit after they literally saw Him walk on water?!, and wrestle with what kind of “food” actually satisfies.
Take just a little more than 15 minutes on your walk, drive home, or with a cup of afternoon tea to listen. We hope you’ll agree… it packs a punch. 💥
